Andres Gutierrez - Principal
Andres is a Principal and CloudStreak's lead engagement manager. He has fifteen years of experience leading and growing successful operations in a broad array of industries including aviation, maintenance, telecom, food & beverage, research & development, and customer service. He provides strategy, business development, and process improvement consulting services focusing on middle market companies and private equity groups. Andres serves as a client officer for DefenseWeb, a wholly owned subsidiary of Humana Healthcare, OpTech Corporation, a diversified Inc 500 business, and in recent past with Sierra Industries, a leader in business aviation. Andres has held executive, general management, and operating roles with Standard Aero, AT&T, Procter & Gamble, and 3M. He brings a unique background in business development, leadership, mergers & acquisitions, and transition planning with both public and privately held companies.
In early 2007 Sierra Industries retained Andres in a ‘turn-around’ General Manager role, where he also served Chief Operating Officer of Sierra’s parent, The SkyWay Group. His overall focus was to improve profits and liquidity by driving process excellence, revitalizing Sierra’s product development and bringing synergies across The SkyWay Group. Under Andres’ leadership, Sierra reduced aircraft modification times by 50%, streamlined operations to meet increased demand, and drastically reduced working capital needs optimizing supply chain and inventories. Key milestones included FAA certification of Sierra’s Citation II engine retrofit, completing a major bank refinance, building an international dealer network, US and Mexican government contracts, and achieving FAA Part 135 carrier certification for its FlighTime Business Jet unit.
At Standard Aero, Andres was Vice President of Government & Military Programs and prior VP of Business Development for its US Division. During his 2003 to 2006 tenure, Standard Aero’s defense business doubled to nearly half of the company’s $800M revenues, winning multi-year contracts with the US Air Force, Army, Navy, and Coast Guard, and NATO and foreign allies. Andres was responsible for government strategy, brand management, sales, and service and US legislative relations. Andres was instrumental in many of the company's teaming relationships and worked closely with it s parent owner, The Carlyle Group, one of the world’s largest private equity firms.
Prior to Standard Aero, Andres held various operations, finance, and marketing roles with SBC Communications, now AT&T. He served as Director of Business Development for the SBC / Yahoo! Alliance, General Manager of DSL Technical Support Operations, and Associate Director of Merger Integration for the Pacific Bell, SNET, Ameritech, and Prodigy acquisitions. Andres was part of SBC’s Leadership Development Program, starting with Southwestern Bell in 1997 as Manager of Installation & Repair.
Andres is an active promoter of international business, is active with the Port San Antonio, and has held various board, chair, and advisory positions with the Free Trade Alliance, the Hallmark Institute of Aeronautics, the Air Force’s Logistics Officers Association (LOA), U.S. Navy League, and the San Antonio Technology Accelerator Initiative (SATAI).
Andres holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master in Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin’s McCombs School of Business.
